Description

We opened the Belfast Indoor Gardening shop aka thebigshop in 2002 in response to the lack of hydroponic/ indoor garden shops anywhere in Ireland - North or South. Since then we have grown a busy online business and we now sell to mainland UK and Ireland and in most cases excluding soils mainly, we offer Free Delivery. The shop is in the heart of Belfast, a two minute walk from the Albert Clock, packed with 4 floors of equipment and feeds etc. From complete Kits to the detailed bits of building your own hydroponic system we have always endeavoured to stock what we consider to be the best product available, although there is a lot of choice with regard to nutrients. Our fully trained staff are available for free advice on set up, equipment to suit your growing environment and area, and dealing with pests and diseases.

Company description
Our backup service includes free practical advice on all aspects of indoor gardening and a 30 day money back guarantee on all unused goods still in their packaging. We aim to have everything in stock for you, and to provide a service you can't get elsewhere, at a better price where possible. We have a large selection of reflective sheetings to line walls or floors with. The growtents are a safe and clean way of growing. The outer shell is a mix of tough canvas material, the inner is a solid, thick, flexible and reflective PVC. Grow Lights, Grow Lamps Light is necessary for all plants to grow.
When creating an artificial growing environment, bear in mind that good plant lighting is the most important equipment in the growroom and you are trying to re-create sunlight, albeit on a far smaller scale. Blue spectrum light (6400K) is most effective for vegetative growing, whilst red spectrum (2700K) is suitable for flower or fruit growing. Red spectrum and reducing light hours triggers hormonal changes in a plant fruit and flower production. High Pressure Sodium (HPS) is best for flowering, whilst Metal Halide (MH) is good for growing on or veg growth. Grolux and Sunmaster Dual Spectrum lamps cover both spectrums and can be used for lighting in both periods.
Use an HPS Nav T-super or Son T-plus for flowering with good results. We are also stocking High Output lamps 95000 Lumens from Sunmaster. Always use a contactor with all HPS systems if working with a timer! For stock plants/ mother plants and seedlings or cuttings you should use a high output fluorescent in a blue spectrum (Metal Halide, T5’s or Eco-lights 125w or 250w). The T5 units are available in 4 and 8 tube versions and are the newest Propagation light on the market, although some customers use the Red Spectrum T5 tubes for flowering close to the plant canopy. Bulbs’ light output degrades through use and it is highly recommended that you change your flowering bulb every 2-3 cycles.
